Conservation & Landscaping Works at Grange Castle, Co. Dublin
The project comprised construction of a new park on the site of Grange castle and the conservation and consolidation of Grange castle, a fifteenth century ruined tower house. Included in the works were temporary works to the castle and its site, permanent works to the castle including raking out of defective mortar joints, re-pointing with new pointing mortar, localised re-construction of parts of the ruins and construction of new stairs and access platforms within the castle and building in new CorTen steel screens in the door and window openings of the castle. Landscape works for the new park included new kerbs, seats, walls, paths and gravel beds, planting new grasses, trees and shrubs, conservation of significant existing features and surfaces and new approach path and bridge.
