Mac Trans Freight Ltd. Warehouse, Waterford

The project involved the construction of a new warehouse facility on a brown field site in a live environment at the existing premises of the Employer. The warehouse is a steel portal frame with insulated wall and roof panels, two dock levellers and a loading bay area were provided. The Racking System was a Direct Employer Contract and was integrated with this contract. Approximately 800m2 of external hard surfacing were provided with connections to existing services. Construction activities were programmed to permit uninterrupted use of the existing facility by the Employer. Proximity to existing buildings on site required the implementation of tailored fire engineering strategies. The facility is designed to cater for the future provision of approximately 130m2 of first floor office accommodation (structure and floor slab were constructed as part of this contract). The building is designed (and planning permission obtained) to maximise south facing roof slopes to permit the future introduction of significant areas of solar PV panels in the medium term.
