ABI Waterford
Acquired Brain Injury Ireland was set up in June 2000 in response to the need for services for people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). ABI Ireland aims to enable people with ABI to live an independent life in the community, by providing and maintaining a supportive living environment.
This scheme comprises the construction of 2 separate housing blocks, firstly a 5-bedroom residential care unit which will accommodate a full-time nurse and secondly 3 independent living units forming part of a terrace arrangement.
The scheme will provide an ‘Exemplar’ Development for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and incorporates a sustainable approach to the overall design. The hard-standing areas are to be all permeable paving with concrete planters and grassed areas and all demolition materials reused onsite consistent with achieving a low carbon footprint.
